Jennifer Koranteng, a 22-year old Theatre Arts and Psychology graduate of the University of Ghana, was crowned Miss Universe Ghana on Friday night. She beat four other contestants to win the title.In 2006 she placed second in the Miss Ghana contest despite being the favourite for the title. The winner went on to qualify for the semi-finals at the 2007 Miss World pageant by winning the Talent fast-track (side show?) competition.
Jennifer is 1,8m tall and is currently my pick for the African "spot" at Miss Universe. I just hope that her national directors are in a position to supply her with a spectacular wardrobe for the pageant.
Hopefully she will emulate the performance of Miss Universe Ghana 1999, Akuba Cudjoe, who was the last contestant from Ghana to qualify for the semi-finals at Miss Universe.
