MISS SA 2009: THE MUSICAL

Everything gets turned into a musical these days, so why not do the same to the Miss SA pageant. We have Chess (metaphor for US vs USSR), The Colour Purple (metaphor for the African-American struggle against the stigma of slavery), Les Miserables (metaphor for a struggle of the classes), Dream Girls (metaphor for the struggle and triumph of African-Americans in the music industry), ....and the list goes on. Why not have Miss SA: The Musical (a metaphor for a beauty pageant).

CHANGE OF CAST

For un-disclosed reasons, the role of Miss Cute African Maiden will now be played by Masechaba Dlengezele.

The Narrator would be played by the brilliant Wayne Brady (Don't Forget the Lyrics). His co-narrators and colour commentators would be the Fire 'n Ice (so I got the pictures in the wrong place...bite me) combination of Padma Lakshmi (Top Chef) and Mary Murphy (So You Think You Can Dance).
Mia Michaels (ambiguous, airy-fairy, I'm from Mars) and Tyce Diorio (there's no business like broadway business) will choreograph the production.
The current Top 20 in the American version of So You Think You Can Dance will play the supporting roles (they are brilliant and have to better than any Richard Loring African Footprint type routine that we get year after year).

This will be a box-office success and definitely much better than the snooze fest that we are bound to be subjected to.
