Downtown Los Angeles Fashion Week Continues: Skingraft

On Tuesday evening, after the first ever Fashion Angel Awards, I was invited to another great show, Skingraft Spring 2010. I attended their last runway show (at the historic and very grand Los Angeles Theater in Downtown LA) and it was great so I was very much looking forward to what they were offering for Spring.
Pre-Show:

The crowd: Post-apocalyptic warrior princes and princesses--mostly in black and in leather. Outlandish Chapeaus and very Steven Meisel Editorial hair and make up. It was a scene; a "people-watcher's" paradise!
Hot Accessory: The Skingraft Holster on men. I spotted several well-dressed men wearing a HOT leather holster across their back and onto their chests. I guess this is the Skingraft version of the Hermes Kelly Bag. Mental Note: I MUST go to the Skingraft boutique and buy one! (I know, I am LATE!!!)
The Show:

For Spring, Skingraft found inspiration in "post-mortem Amelia Earhart and birds in flight." Modern-day Amelia's (and Amelio's) stomped onto the runway in their leather aviator caps, fitted warrior-like jackets, shearlings, and jodhpur pants. They also offered lighter fabrications such as feathered silk blouses and soft-as-butter leather jackets (that's how Skingraft does Spring!)

One of my favorite women's looks was an all-white capped sleeved jacket and skinny pant ensemble that had Laura Croft Tomb Raider written all over it. I also loved the cropped pants and shoulder pleated leather jackets they showed for their men.

The stars of the show, however, were the final multi-ruffled dresses with metallic and leather bustiers. One model had a bird (faux I presume) precariously perched atop her shoulder. The show ended with a black ruched-and-crinoline gown with leather-and-grommet side panels and vest. I assume this was the Skingraft Bride. Her veil: Black feathered wings: Naturally!
