In 1994, Basetsane Makgalemele became the second black woman to win the Miss SA title after Jacqui Mofokeng had achieved the feat the year before. Her runners-up were Sonia Kempff, Helen Macleod, Ronel Ruthven (Miss People's Choice) and Rethabile Matseke. Basetsane went on to place second at the Miss World pageant held in Sun City.Blog Archive
