2010 MISS OCTOBER

It's time for the Kraaifontein October Festival again, and the Miss October pageant, previously known as Miss October Festival, returns as one of the featured events at this festival that was held in 1990 for the first time. In addition to the prestige of being crowned Miss October, the winner will also receive prizes to the value of R15, 000.

The pageant is not just a "once-off" affair, and the winner and runners-up will required to perform a certain number of charity-related duties after the pageant. The Top 3 also gain automatic entry into the Miss SA 2011 pageant, and will be interviewed during the preliminary rounds of that pageant next year.

The pageant is being organised by former Miss SA Finalist, Michelle Gildenhuys. Michelle is also the reigning Miss October Festival. She was crowned in 2007, but since the pageant was not held for 2 years, she still wears the crown. She will crown her successor at a gala event in Kraaifontein on Saturday 23 October.

To enter the pageant, you need to complete the attached entry form and forward it to missoctober@live.co.za. Since the pageant has been awarded "direct quarter-final" status by the Miss SA organisers, you need to adhere very closely to the rules of the pageant as indicated on the entry form. False information will lead to immediate disqualification.

In addition to the completed entry form, you should also attach two recent photographs of yourself (one head and shoulders, one full-length in swimsuit) to your entry. No photoshopped photographs will be accepted. Should your photograph not be a reasonable reflection of your physical appearance, you will be disqualified. A copy of your ID document, as well as a copy of your matric certificate (or equivalent qualification) is also necessary.

The closing date for entries is on 17 September. Semi-final interviews will be held on 19 September at a venue in Kraaifontein, and the finalists will be announced shortly after that.
