After much thought and deliberation, South African Beauties has decided against sending Miss October, Marzanne van der Merwe, to the Miss Golden Skin International pageant in Mexico. The costs involved in sending Marzanne to that pageant far outweigh the benefits in terms of prestige and international exposure.In addition, there were security concerns about sending a contestant to a pageant in a country where kidnappings and hostage-takings are a daily occurrence. Marzanne will now be representing South Africa at a well-known pageant in Europe at the end of the year.
