It's that time of the year again, and the semi-finalists in the 2010 Miss SA competition have been announced. The 34 semi-finalists will attend a workshop at Sun City next month and the 12 finalists will be announced on 25 October.
What makes it very difficult to try and predict a Top 12 at this stage is that the organisers have once again opted to use the entry photographs on the Miss SA website. Not only do we have to contend with 34 different photographer styles, but we also have to take into account that each of the girls was styled differently, hence no uniformity.
With the resources that they have at their disposal, how difficult could it be to appoint a photographer for the official headshots? I understand that they are still busy with the semi-final round and that there will be an official photographer and stylist to "shoot" the Top 12 portraits, but if they're going to go to the trouble of placing the semi-finalist photographs on the website, at least do it properly.
In any event, I have searched the internet for better photographs of the semi-finalists and will give a brief description of each of the remaining 34 contestants. First up is Dhesha Jeram.
Dhesha is 23 years old and measures 1,75m. She hails from Cape Town, is a B Com graduate and models part-time. I reckon she has a good chance of making the Top 12 provided she can impress in interview. She is relatively tall, has versatile looks in her modelling shots, and given that we're in for a "Mediterranean" look again this year, I expect her to be in the Top 12.
